You can say that I am Indian, that's why I am in the (fever) of Indian Girls. But it's not true, Indian girls are beautiful in reality.
Half a century ago, Hollywood would have presented her to us. Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman or perhaps Elizabeth Taylor.
But today? Bob Simon reports the woman who currently holds the title, at least according to thousands of Web sites, Internet polls is someone you've probably never heard of.
Aishwarya Rai has been called 'The Most Beautiful Woman in the World' and this Bollywood superstar is increasingly gaining fame in the West. She's made headlines across the globe with the announcement of her upcoming marriage to Abhishek Bachchan. That combined with a taboo shattering on-screen kiss has everybody talking about Aishwarya Rai. Just how popular is she? There are over 17,000 websites devoted to her.
Aishwarya Rai is an actress living and working in Mumbai, India. The reigning queen of Indian cinema, and also a classicall dancer, Rai has starred in 31 films over the last nine years.

Yes! It is amazing what a ton of makeup could do to make Ashwarya look so beautiful! But has anyone ever dug through her Revlon Mask and got a glimpse of the real person? What does she look like first thing in the morning minus the under wire bra support and butt sculpturing panties? Does her breath smell? Does her mouth taste foul? Does she have a full head of hair or is that the work of an expensive body enhancing conditioner? Is she the gentle swan her PR images make her out to be or the narcissistic, oversexed, secretive, vindictive, control-freak stereotypical of her November 1st birth sign Scorpio?
Alas; I’ll never get to find out! (I’m not too sure whether I’d want to …).
The point I’m trying to make is there’s a big difference between being “pretty” vs. being “attractive”; so also with a celebrity’s public vs. private image. The former is deceptive; it is meant to be so! Think of it this way: If one were judging the “most beautiful” from a line- up of “beautiful” women, much would depend on the artistic talent of the make-up and wardrobe staff to bring out the “beauty” of their client (provided, of course, the “canvas” holds some merit in the first place!). Failing which, “all cats look grey in the dark”!
My choice for representing the Most Beautiful Woman in the World is Sharbat Gula . You might remember her on the June 1985 cover of National Geographic Magazine representing the plight of refugees in war torn Afghanistan at the time. Sharbat's haunting eyes were not touched up in any way; there were no strobes or extra lighting used to take the shot. Raw, unadulterated innocence! To her, Victoria’s Secret and Max Factor might sound like a lewd affair. She has on absolutely no makeup. Yet her features exude a quiet strength, determination, and iron will fortifying the timidity of a frightened doe lost in a climate of uncertainty.
“The eyes are an index to the soul”! Yes! Sharbat REPRESENTS the Most Beautiful Woman in the World not so much for being photogenic but for mirroring so well the qualities that define femininity.
